of Rovers

Welcome to Wigan Rovers FC. We play football at St James’ Park, Poolstock Lane, WN3 5DP, our home since 1963. The club itself was founded in 1959, joining the Cheshire County League; two years later the club moved to the Lancashire Combination Second Division. In 1966 the team won the league and were promoted to the First Division.

The club entered the FA Cup on four occasions between 1967 and 1973, and the FA Vase between 1974 and 1978. The best result in the FA Cup was winning a First Qualifying Round replay against Horwich RMI in 1968–69. The best FA Vase run reached the Second Round in 1975–76, where Rovers were knocked out by Prescot Town.

Rovers were founding members of the North West Counties League in 1982–83 but after one season joined the West Lancashire League. In 1994 the club joined the Wigan & District Amateur League, winning the title in 1999–2000. In 2024 the first team joined the Mid Lancashire Football League.

Home colours are an orange and black striped shirt with black shorts and black socks.
